Program Duration

The program is a full-time course of instruction which shall be a minimum of 36 months in duration. A minimum of 33 months must include supervised management of patients (clinical rotations).

Curriculum/Core Rotations

The following are the prescribed rotations at Medical City Weatherford for a three-year program:

PGY1:

  • General Internal Medicine (Wards) - 4 months
  • ICU- 1 month
  • Cardiology - 1 month
  • Nephrology - 1 month
  • Gastroenterology- 1 month
  • Emergency Medicine - 1 month
  • Ambulatory Internal Medicine - 1 month
  • Electives - 2 months

PGY2:

  • General Internal Medicine (Wards) - 3 months
  • ICU- 1 month
  • Cardiology - 1 month
  • Nephrology - 1 month
  • Pulmonary- 1 month
  • Geriatrics - 1 month
  • Ambulatory Internal Medicine - 1 month
  • Endocrinology - 1 month
  • Electives - 2 months

PGY3:

  • General Internal Medicine (Wards) - 3 months
  • ICU- 1 month
  • Cardiology - 1 month
  • Neurology - 1 month
  • Hematology/Oncology- 1 month
  • Dermatology - 1 month
  • Ambulatory Internal Medicine - 2 months
  • Electives - 3 months

The inpatient hospitalist service at Medical City Weatherford allows for exposure to a board spectrum of pathology among hospitalized patients. Residents will work alongside Traditional Rotating Interns as well as third and fourth year Medical Students. Hospitalist attending physicians are responsible for overall supervision of patient care and teaching. Rounds are conducted daily. Shifts are 7:00a.m. - 7:00 p.m. or 7:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m. on assigned nights.
